Toncoin Extends Rally as Telegram Launches Integrated TON Wallet for 87M U.S. Users
Toncoin (TON) experienced a significant price surge following Telegram’s rollout of its TON Wallet to 87 million U.S. users. This integration allows users to seamlessly send, receive, and stake cryptocurrencies directly within the Telegram app, eliminating the need for external wallets or extensions. The wallet, developed by The Open Platform (TOP) and built on the TON blockchain, supports stablecoins and other tokens, marking a first for self-custodial wallets embedded in a major U.S. messaging platform.
TOP CEO Andrew Rogozov attributed the launch to a more favorable regulatory environment and Telegram’s substantial user base, many of whom are crypto-savvy. To enhance user experience, the TON Wallet uses a split-key recovery model, linking backups to the user’s Telegram account and email, eliminating the need for a seed phrase. This simplifies the onboarding process, a key goal for TOP.
Functionality includes staking, token swaps, zero-fee purchases via MoonPay, and on/off-ramps using debit cards. Integration with Telegram’s “Mini Apps” platform provides a complete in-app Web3 experience. At the time of writing, TON traded at $3.4121, a 3% increase over 24 hours, 12.2% over the week, and 25.6% over the month. This growth reflects increased usage, platform integration, and positive investor sentiment.
Technical analysis reveals a strong rally between July 21st and 22nd, with a 10.15% intraday surge on July 22nd, driven by significant trading volume (46.32 million units). The price broke above key resistance near $3.34, expanding its trading range considerably. However, a short-term pullback occurred in the final hours of July 22nd, with a 2.54% drop, indicating potential consolidation despite the overall bullish trend. The integration of a user-friendly crypto wallet into a widely used messaging platform has clearly stimulated significant interest in TON, resulting in both price appreciation and increased trading activity.
