What’s Next for Hyperliquid’s HYPE Token? What Wall Street and Analysts Are Saying
Corporate adoption of cryptocurrency treasury strategies is rapidly expanding, moving beyond the pioneering efforts of Michael Saylor’s MicroStrategy. Companies have raised over $85 billion in 2025 to acquire cryptocurrencies, exceeding the funds raised through US IPOs. This surge involves diverse sectors, and institutional investors like Capital Group, Galaxy Digital, and D1 Capital are actively participating.
A significant example is the formation of Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. (HSI), a public company designed to hold substantial reserves of HYPE, the native token of the Hyperliquid blockchain. HSI emerged from a reverse merger between Sonnet BioTherapeutics and Rorschach I LLC, a vehicle backed by Atlas Merchant Capital, Paradigm, and other prominent crypto investors. HSI will initially hold 12.6 million HYPE tokens (valued at $583 million) and plans to acquire more, potentially creating one of the largest institutional altcoin holdings.
Hyperliquid is a decentralized exchange (DEX) and layer-1 blockchain offering high-speed trading with the transparency of DeFi. Its infrastructure includes HyperCore for high-speed trading and HyperEVM, a smart contract layer compatible with Ethereum. HYPE, its native token, is used for staking, governance, and trading incentives. Currently, HYPE ranks among the top 15 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, boasting over $1 trillion in cumulative trading volume.
Analyst opinions on HYPE’s valuation are divided. While some analysts, like “McKenna,” suggest undervaluation based on revenue metrics, others, such as “Altcoin Sherpa,” express caution, noting the recent price surge might have exhausted short-term upside potential. Despite strong fundamentals, the price remains subject to market fluctuations driven by narrative and speculation.
The creation of HSI signifies a shift in corporate crypto strategies. Instead of focusing solely on Bitcoin, HSI is built around a relatively new altcoin, resembling a publicly traded thematic crypto fund. The success of this model could encourage more firms to raise capital for concentrated positions in tokens believed to shape the future of digital finance. With over $888 million committed, HSI’s trajectory will be closely watched as a benchmark for future corporate crypto investments.
