The Blockchain Group (ALTBG), a Paris-based company specializing in data intelligence and decentralized technologies, has significantly bolstered its Bitcoin (BTC) acquisition strategy through a substantial 63.3 million euro ($71.9 million) convertible bond issuance. This strategic move, executed via its Luxembourg subsidiary, underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its Bitcoin treasury and solidifying its investor relationships.
The financing round saw significant participation from key investors. A notable element of the deal involves a $5.7 million BTC-denominated bond subscribed by Moonlight Capital. This bond was issued at a premium, reflecting a 30% increase above the May 23rd closing share price of $4.3. This demonstrates strong investor confidence in ALTBG’s long-term prospects and its Bitcoin-focused strategy.
Furthermore, ALTBG successfully completed the exercise of all rights for Convertible Bonds B-02 (“OCA Tranche 2”). This tranche, initially reserved for strategic investors Fulgur Ventures and UTXO Management, resulted in a further $66 million in capital injection, at a share price of $0.79. The participation of these established investors highlights the attractiveness of ALTBG’s investment thesis and the potential for future growth.
Adding to the positive momentum, prominent investor Adam Back converted all his OCA Tranche 1 bonds into 14.88 million shares. This conversion signals a strong vote of confidence and underscores Mr. Back’s long-term commitment to ALTBG’s vision and its strategic direction.
The influx of capital generated from these financing activities is earmarked for the acquisition of approximately 590 BTC. This purchase will significantly increase ALTBG’s total Bitcoin holdings, potentially reaching 1,437 BTC. This strategic accumulation of Bitcoin reflects ALTBG’s belief in the long-term value proposition of Bitcoin as a store of value and its confidence in the cryptocurrency’s future growth trajectory. The transaction exemplifies a significant step in solidifying ALTBG’s position as a major player in the Bitcoin market.
